Satellite Today, July 13, 2009 UltiSat has commissioned a C-band teleport for Afcomsat, a Nigerian satellite services provider, UltiSat announced July 10.
Under its agreement with Afcomsat, UltiSat designed, integrated, installed and provisioned a 6.3-meter, tracking, fully redundant, uplink gateway, including an iDirect 5IF Evolution hub at Afcomsat's facility in Lagos, Nigeria. UltiSat will support Afcomsat in the expansion, operation, and maintenance of the facility as well as implementing custom network and VSAT solutions for its Nigerian customers.
"A major factor in partnering with UltiSat for the launch of our service was not only its experience in providing end-to-end earth station systems but also its specific knowledge of the African market," Afcomsat CEO Bola Awobamise said in a statement.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
